Carespring Health Care Management is Hiring a Medication Aide (FT/PT) Near Cold Spring, KY

Exciting new opportunities at our NKY facility. Medication Aides assists in the administering of medications and treatments to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing. Pay ranges from $20.00 - $24.00 an hour depending on licensure and experience.
Unlicensed personnel who function as a medication aide must have successfully completed a state approved training program from a state approved training provider for administration of medications. Carespring can assist with these training programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
  • Report any medication error, clinical issue or resident need that is unable to be addressed by this position to the charge nurse and/or nurse manager
  • Assists in developing and implementing procedures or programs of the facility that seek to determine what medication errors are taking place, when, where, and why they occur, and how they can be prevented.
  • Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, documentation, etc., and submit these as may be required.
  • Maintains a friendly, productive, working relationship with other members of the department of nursing, attending physicians, the Medical Director, and pharmacists.
  • Attends and participates in care plan meetings as necessary. Participates in the development and implementation of the resident’s comprehensive assessment as necessary.

CLINICAL/DRUG ADMINISTRATION

  • Accurately and safely prepares, administers, and documents the oral, nasal, otic, ophthalmic, inhalation, and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility and that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician or the Medical Director.
  • As necessary, accurately measures, records, and reports the vital signs of residents.
  • Verifies identity of patient receiving medication.
  • Follows facility procedures in regard to documentation and storage of medications.
  • Follows facility policies and procedures regarding the destroying of medications; assists in carrying out these rules under the direction of the facility pharmacist or Director of Nursing Services, including the documentation requirements.
  • Clarifies any order or treatment regimen as needed.
  • Orders medications; returning all discharge medications for credit in compliance with federal state regulations.
  • Maintains clean and orderly medication room and cart.
  • Completes any other required forms and documents in accordance with company policy state and/or federal regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active certification in the state to practice as a medication aide.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Must provide documentation of such certification upon application for the position.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
