Job Summary

The Investment Analyst is a financial professional who conducts research, creates financial models, and produces analytical reports in support of investment portfolio management and provides recommendations to senior management in selecting a variety of investment opportunities for CareOregon and all subsidiary entities.

Essential Responsibilities

Investment Analysis

  • Perform independent investment research on assigned areas, researching companies and investment opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth investment research on active portfolios and assess the long-term profit-loss trajectory.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools and framework to assess potential investments to support the investment selection process.
  • Synthesize results of investment screening and due diligence into reporting that helps senior management make key investment decisions.

Investment Portfolio Oversight

  • Manage relationship with investment advisory firm and partner with the firm to engage with selected fund managers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry participants, including fund managers and industry professionals.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all investment relationships.
  • Suggest recommendations for improvement of investment portfolios.
  • Keep abreast of financial press and new trends and opportunities, as well as potential risks.
  • Reduce financial risk based on current and forecasted market trends and financial data.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of investment policies, procedures, and controls.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain investment reporting software for analytical and financial reporting.
  • Support accounting month-end and year-end journal entry and reconciliation process.
  • Coordinate investment specific financial disclosures.
  • Prepare annual investment roll forward and other external audit workpapers.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Experience and/or Education

Required

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an investment analyst position or similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

Preferred

  • Charted Financial Analyst (CFA)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial instruments, and investment products
  • Knowledge of private equity industry, market participants, investment structures and current trends
  • Sound understanding of economic and investment theory and practices

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills, including high proficiency in Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Effective presentation and advance critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently

Work Environment(s): Indoor/Office Community Facilities/Security Outdoor Exposure
