CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy is looking for a pharmacy clerk/dishwasher.

 Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacy Lab Clerk/Dishwasher

Job Classification: Non – Technician

Reports To: Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities shall be performed in compliance with all current pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), rules, and regulations:

Pharmacy Lab Clerk/Dishwasher Duties:

  • Wash and dry compounding equipment and supplies according to standard operating procedures.
  • Janitorial duties such as trash removal and cleaning of assigned areas.
  • Ensure all necessary cleaning supplies are available and stocked as needed.
  • Other non-supportive personnel duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist-In-Charge.

The Pharmacy Lab Clerk/Dishwasher SHALL NOT Perform duties reserved for the pharmacy technician pursuant to N.J.A.C. 13:39-6.5, such as:

  • Process prescription orders. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Patient registrations
    • Data entering of prescription orders
    • Packaging, labeling and /or compounding of prescription orders
  • Counsel patient
  • Any other functions requiring discretionary judgment reserved by a pharmacy technician or a pharmacist

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations –

  • High school education or equivalent is a plus but not required

TRAINING AND COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

Training and Competency assessments shall be performed and documented in accordance with current pharmacy SOPs. This will include but is not limited to completion of hands-on training, reviewing of training material in the form of videos, slides, reading, and understanding, or SOPs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pharmacy Shipping Clerk - Has no supervisory responsibilities

Lead Pharmacy Shipping Clerk – Will be assigned responsibilities to supervise and train Pharmacy Shipping Clerks/Dishwashers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or equivalent as required by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy. Experience working in a mail-order is a plus but not required.

Language Skills – Ability to read, write and interpret documents and prescriptions. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide the difference in

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions for appropriate shipping.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of using an internet browser.

Physical Demands – The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to physically locate packages and supplies, move or carry packages up to 10 lbs.
