Duties of Agency Registered Nurse
- Performs routine nursing duties.
- Work involves providing for the assessment, care a nd treatment of individuals diagnosed with mental illness.
- May train others.
- Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Shift Coordinator.
- The Unit RN may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN and Psychiatric Nurse Assistants in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- The responsibility of the Unit RN is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a State Hospital.
- The Unit RN is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the implementation of the individual's individualized recovery plan.
- Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, such as the Primary Care Provider, social worker, psychologist, and other nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties of LVNs and psychiatric nursing assistants, implementing physicians orders, and following all facility rules/policies.
- BLS and ACLS
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Passionate about patient care
- Requires a minimum of two years of current RN Psychiatric experience.
- Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
- Active unencumbered RN Texas state license
- One year of Epic experience
- COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
