Performs routine nursing duties.
Work involves providing for the assessment, care a nd treatment of individuals diagnosed with mental illness.
May train others.
Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Shift Coordinator.
The Unit RN may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN and Psychiatric Nurse Assistants in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
The responsibility of the Unit RN is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a State Hospital.
The Unit RN is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the implementation of the individual's individualized recovery plan.
Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, such as the Primary Care Provider, social worker, psychologist, and other nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties of LVNs and psychiatric nursing assistants, implementing physicians orders, and following all facility rules/policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
BLS and ACLS
National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
The ability to stand for extended periods.
Strong technical skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Passionate about patient care
Requires a minimum of two years of current RN Psychiatric experience.
Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
Active unencumbered RN Texas state license
One year of Epic experience
Requirements
