Working at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center in support of the Meteorology Team for X-59, the Student Meteorological Engineer will work to develop unique solutions and measurement techniques for the upcoming flight test activities. The candidate is required to be enrolled in an accredited engineering program and have completed a majority of math, physics, and engineering course work. The ideal candidate will be proficient in a programing language, Microsoft Office, and familiar with the use of basic hand tools. This role will include field work setting up and moving weather measurement equipment so a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and a willingness to work outdoors for extended hours are required. Compensated overtime may be required.

Must be a U.S. citizen.Must pass drug testing.Must be able to read and write effectively in English.Strong communication skills and ability to work as a part of a larger team is required.Must embrace safety principles to include; adhering to safe work practices and standards while performing daily tasks, taking responsibility for own and coworkers’ safekeeping and encouraging others to work safely.Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.Must perform work activities requiring interaction, negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others.Must be able to work under supervision and respond appropriately and professionally to criticism from a supervisor.With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.Must be able to work within hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility may be required based on workload.Physical requirements – must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
