Job Description:
Support development of software applications and integration of diverse hardware and software technologies for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense systems. Work as part of a government scientific research and development team and apply engineering, software development, and computer networking skills to lab and field work in support of projects to meet schedules and deliver advanced technology solutions. Field work can last a week or more at a time and include system testing and military technology demonstrations.

• Develop software applications in Python, Java, and other languages to integrate and network various CBRN systems and technologies.
• Under the direction of project leads, integrate applications, sensors, instruments, and platforms into operational systems.
• Develop Android and web applications and support modeling, CAD, and electrical/electronic system requirements.
• Support systems testing in the lab and field to demonstrate functionality and performance and to collect customer feedback. Work includes equipment/instrumentation packing for shipment, setup and wiring, system checks and repairs, training, data collection, and retrograde duties.
• Work as part of a team in an open concept lab setting akin to pair programming to develop mission critical systems.
• Remain current on upcoming technologies and related subjects in the literature and news.
• Assist with the preparation and presentation of training and demonstrations. 

Bonus points if you have:

• Android or Web development, networking, CAD, and/or modeling experience
• 3 years post baccalaureate Python coding and integration experience
• Linux/Unix experience
• Embedded systems experience using Raspberry Pi (SBC) or Arduino (microcontroller)
• Mechanical design, fabrication, and 3D printing experience or coursework
• Systems engineering experience or coursework
• Active DoD Security clearance

Compensation & Benefits:

• Pay: From $65K - $84K per year based on experience and qualifications
• Schedule: Compressed Work Schedule, M-F, 9-hrs/day, every other Friday off
• 401K with up to 4% employer matching contribution
• 2 weeks (80 hrs/year) Paid Time Off, 11 Federal holidays, and Sick Leave

Job Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline.

• Must be a US Citizen eligible for a security clearance
• 2 years Python and Java coding experience (college & internship experience applies)
• Experience writing code for hardware/software integration
• Electrical/computer engineering experience/coursework
• Proficiency in another object-oriented programming language
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Ability to multitask and complete work within schedule
