Job Description

The Science and Technology Corporation (STC), in collaboration with NASA Ames Research Center, is at the forefront of aerospace innovation, engaging in research that pushes the boundaries of science and technology. We are excited to extend a special invitation to students in computer science or related fields for an internship or part-time role, offering flexible schedules to fit academic commitments. We seek a skilled and motivated student, either at the Bachelor's or Master's level, who will spearhead the development of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for our advanced CFD Solver. This role intertwines technical prowess with innovative problem-solving, focusing on pre- processing and post-processing of CFD data.

Responsibilities
● Innovative Development: Craft an intuitive GUI to interact seamlessly with our CFD Solver, incorporating the ability to read and manipulate CAD files, visualize complex meshes, and complete other CFD simulation pre-processing tasks.
● Collaborative Engineering: Work alongside our dedicated team of developers, contributing to the solver's integration and enhancement based on real-time feedback and evolving requirements.
● Creative Problem-Solving: Utilize your skills in C and GUI frameworks like Qt to address and overcome technical challenges, ensuring a user-friendly experience.

This is a limited duration “student intern” position during the summer, with flexible start and end dates to accommodate academic schedules, with an opportunity for long-term commitment afterwards. The primary work will be done at the NASA Ames Research Center, with the option for remote work for long-term engagements.

Job Requirements

● Active enrollment in a computer science, engineering, or related degree program.
● Proficient in C with a keen understanding of GUI development, preferably with
Qt or similar frameworks.
● Familiarity with CAD kernels such as OpenCascade or Parasolid is
advantageous.
● An interest in HPC and computational geometry is desirable but not mandatory.

We are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers, committed to diversity in the workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under state or local law.
