Job Description

NOTE: Position is a bargaining unit-represented position and is subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Position Overview:

Under close supervision responsible for providing Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) support in one or more functional areas of Industrial Hygiene (IH), Industrial Safety (IS), Radiological or Environmental for the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Functional:

• Provides IH/IS support to perform work place monitoring and job coverage support for all DUF6 operations and maintenance activities
• Conducts safety walk-downs, inspections, and pre-job walk-downs for hazard identification and coordinates the development of activity hazard analyses
• Performs field monitoring and job coverage in support of the work safety and health program utilizing approved work packages and procedures
• Collects various sample media, administers sample chain-of-custody, and conducts sample analysis
• Maintains and operates IS/IH monitoring equipment
• Stops/Suspends work of unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk
• Reviews and develops and reviews ES&H procedures
• Interacts with Work Control, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to plan for and provide technical input into work package development in accordance with Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles
• Champions ISM with the work force

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements (Must meet DOE O 426.2 minimum requirements):

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years related industrial hygiene and/or industrial safety experience, which should include:
•  1 year experience in DOE radiological activities (preferred)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) credential
