SLANG Worldwide is Hiring a Business Development Representative & Field Marketing Coordinator - VT Near Burlington, VT

Job Overview:

In this role, the primary responsibility is to serve as the face of our brand to consumers, both in-store and in the field. Working with both the marketing and sales departments, this person will help bolster B2B sales, maintaining and growing meaningful relationships with existing and prospective retail partners. They will also coordinate marketing campaigns within our owned retail stores (Ceres Collaborative) and across our wholesale network of retail partners.

  • This person should have an in-depth understanding of the Vermont market and key brand customer demographics.
  • The person in this position should be extremely organized and possess strong communication skills in order to effectively coordinate and collaborate cross-departmentally, and with retail partners in-market.
  • Developing and fostering connections with retail partners is crucial for thriving in this role, making a warm and sociable demeanor essential.
  • Strong self-direction, self-motivation and attention to detail are also a must for success.. This role offers autonomy in daily routines, emphasizing the importance of initiative and independence.

Responsibilities Overview:

PROSPECT & NURTUREProspect, establish and nurture relationships with retailers in the wholesale network. Expand retailer partnerships to grow our brands’ presence within their stores.

STRATEGIZE & ORGANIZE: Work collaboratively with the sales & marketing teams in developing a holistic approach to supporting each retailer’s individual needs, optimizing brand performance, particularly focusing on key retail accounts.

COORDINATE: Work with stakeholders both internally and externally to support promotions and merchandising, leveraging a variety of marketing channels including but not limited to: in-store activations, digital, social, content & events.

MEASURE: Identify & monitor benchmarks for success and identify marketing opportunities that have measurable, ROI positive results.

MAINTAIN: Solely responsible for maintaining organization of assets in-office and managing replenishment when needed (i.e. product samples, print collateral orders, display packaging on-hand, assisting with swag inventories, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Approximately 30% of time (12 hours weekly) will be spent at the Ceres Collaborative stores and/or production facility, including but not limited to:

  • Executing in-market research and understanding of competitive products & landscape. Includes identifying customer pain points & desires in order to provide consultative marketing recommendations.
  • Maintaining and organizing inventory of swag, merchandising display, print materials, and event assets.
  • Maintaining and tracking product samples.
  • Assisting the facility with deliveries if/when needed.
  • Strategic planning and execution of Ceres Collaborative marketing support, including but not limited to:
    • Scheduling and executing in-store popups.
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date merchandising and product displays.
    • Brand and product training for in-store employees.
    • Developing and maintaining a strong, consistent brand image across all channels. This involves ensuring all marketing materials, in-store displays, and online presence adhere to the brand's guidelines and effectively communicate the brand's values and identity.
    • Working closely with the Marketing Manager to:
      • Identify and coordinate digital marketing and advertising opportunities, including social media.
      • Identify and coordinate community engagement opportunities.
      • Help set and monitor ROI benchmarks.
      • Develop vendor relationships and coordinate vendor marketing programming.
      • Collaborate with store design teams to ensure the physical layout and in-store promotions align with marketing strategies. This includes ensuring point-of-sale materials, in-store events setup, and visual merchandising support overall marketing goals.

Approximately 70% of time (28 hours weekly) will be spent in-field executing a variety of sales & wholesale marketing support activities, including but not limited to:

  • Prospecting, establishing and developing wholesale account relationships. Includes caring for the sales & marketing needs of current accounts and generating new accounts.
  • Fostering in-store relationships with budtenders and retail staff to identify and develop growth opportunities.
  • Executing in-market research and understanding of competitive products & landscape. Includes identifying customer pain points & desires in order to provide consultative sales recommendations.
  • Collaboration with the marketing team to develop and execute sales incentive strategies, promotional offers, and informational materials. 
  • Continual communication and integration with Account Executive(s).
    • Following procedure from prospecting to closing the account.
    • Maintaining CRM database.
    • Weekly touchpoints with KRAs.
    • Bi-weekly touchpoints with prospects.
    • Delivering samples, swag, merchandising and other marketing assets as needed.
    • Developing account relationships, talking to accounts/prospects about new products, current product feedback, brand value props and growth opportunities.
  • Coordination and execution of on-site popup events, budtender education events, networking mixers, community events and other events as identified.
  • Managing social media posting from in-field events.
  • Identifying and implementing in-store merchandising opportunities and optimizing brand placement.
  • Executing budtender training.
  • Ensuring retailer partner digital menu assets, in-store marketing materials and merchandising are up-to-date.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Love for human interaction & influence!
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in brand marketing and/or field sales preferred.
  • Prior experience in the cannabis industry is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, Google Drive and CRM software.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal direct supervision, including adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Must have a valid Vermont driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, insurance, and a clean driving & criminal record. (This position requires extensive in-state travel.)
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends (for events as needed).

Compensation & Benefits

💰 Salary range of $ 50,000 - 70,000 per year depending on skills and experience level.
