Executive Director - End Drugs Shortages Alliance Description/Job Summary

ASHP, on behalf of the End Drug Shortages Alliance (EDSA), is recruiting an Executive Director to lead the EDSA's mission of ending drug shortages. The Executive Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations and implementing the Board-directed strategies, tactics, and programs that support the EDSA vision, mission, and objectives. The salary range for this position is $160,000-190,000 in addition to ASHP's comprehensive benefit plan. This position is a remote position and can be located in any of the following states: AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, MD, MA, MI, MN, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TX, VA, WV, WI.

What You'll Be Doing at ASHP:

  • Lead the EDSA in promoting a transparent, resilient, and high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing process that eliminates routine drug shortages.
  • Facilitate networking of existing members and recruitment of new members to expand the ability of the EDSA to advance its goals.
  • Establish connections with other strategic partners to advance a resilient supply chain of pharmaceuticals.
  • Communicate the organization's viewpoint to external groups and leaders, mobilize the energy and expertise of its members, manage staff resources and contractors, and oversee financial performance.
  • Elevate the awareness of EDSA and its mission to stabilize the supply chain of essential medications.
  • Contribute to the primary literature through research regarding the current landscape of drug shortages and strategies to increase understanding and improve supply chain quality.
  • Manage the EDSA, including the Board of Directors, the project committees, and the overall membership.
  • Convene and facilitate meetings and virtual conferences to advance the project work of the EDSA.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and monitor the execution of EDSA strategic tactics.
  • Communicate with other external stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities to advance the mission of the EDSA.
  • Monitor regulatory, legislative, technology developments, and business changes that impact the supply of essential pharmaceuticals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on supply chain resiliency, quality, and transparency and its impact on patient care and health care costs.
  • Work with EDSA member organizations, committees, and work groups to advance supply chain quality and resiliency, as well as advocacy opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To ASHP:

  • Master's degree in business or healthcare-related fields strongly preferred. Expertise in supply chain management is also preferred.
  • Advanced education, certification, or training is desirable (e.g., PharmD/MD/MBA, accredited residency, recognition or certification by the business or healthcare profession).
  • Previous experience in clinical practice advancement and inherent responsibilities for at least five years in a progressive health system practice is desired.
  • Experience working with public policy.
  • Recognized thought leader in essential medications, drug shortage mitigation, pharmaceutical supply requirements, and medication safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, lead, and influence across multi-stakeholder organizations.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
