About the Role

The Company is seeking a National Technical Underwriting Middle Market leader with a strong background in commercial product and underwriting for the property and casualty insurance industry. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with strategic, creative, and technical underwriting skills, and a deep understanding of the insurance market. Responsibilities for this role include driving underwriting excellence, setting strategic direction, and managing the underwriting performance for the commercial middle market business unit. The successful candidate will be accountable for the overall high-quality underwriting execution, including the development of strategic and operational plans, and ensuring continued profitability and growth. They will also be responsible for leading and managing a team, overseeing associate management, and contributing to the establishment of underwriting audit criteria.Candidates for this position should have a strong educational background, with undergraduate studies in business or a related field, and preferably, graduate studies. Industry designations such as CPCU or ARM are also preferred. A minimum of 15 years' of experience in middle market and/or related commercial lines underwriting, including at least 10 years' of management experience, is required. The role demands a leader with a proven track record in underwriting, financial evaluation, and a focus on customer value. The candidate must possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, and be adept at collaborating, influencing, and driving results. Experience in construction, custom solutions, and senior living, human services & non-profit national industry practices is a plus.
