How will your role help us transform hope into reality?

The Associate Director, Business Insights & Analytics will be the eyes and ears of Blueprint Medicines' commercial organization. In this role, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of our in-line therapeutic areas, their competitive landscapes, and our position therein. You will understand our products, how they are perceived, and how they are used in exquisite detail. You will develop a rich understanding of our patients and their journeys. You will synthesize disparate sources of information (qualitative, quantitative, analytics) into a unified narrative to generate actionable hypotheses. You will become a trusted source of truth and will improve upon the market insights and the analytic sophistication of the organization more broadly. In this opportunity you will report to the Director, Forecasting & Advanced Analytics.

What will you do?

  • In conjunction with key collaborators (e.g., Marketing, Commercial Operations) find opportunities to use data to bring to light market opportunities, define and implement analytics approaches to address key challenges, and support customer-facing initiatives such as non-personal promotion and multi-channel marketing
  • Become a subject matter expert in developing & utilizing key commercial datasets (e.g., distribution data, HCP engagement data, healthcare claims data)
  • Define, track, and communicate Key Performance Indicators. Deliver sales and marketing tracking tools to provide actionable insights to key partners. 
  • Lead / contribute to forecasting and analytics activities as well as market research and competitive intelligence to bring key data-driven business insights to leaders within the commercial organization in a proactive manner
  • Collaborate with commercial and finance leadership to define and quantify the impact of market opportunities and threats across the portfolio
  • Support the commercial operations function with insights and data to support territory alignment, physician segmentation, and other key decisions
  • Develop processes, manage vendors, and generate results to effectively assess business performance and potential, and inform key stakeholder engagement
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to address pressing business questions
  • Participate in broader commercial team initiatives based on business need and development interest 
  • Ensure reporting of accurate information. Manage and adhere to all Blueprint Medicines policies, ensuring compliance with corporate rules and governmental regulations

What minimum qualifications do we require? 

  • BA / BS degree required; an advanced degree in a scientific, quantitative, or technical field (e.g., PhD., MS, MBA, MPH) is preferred
  • At least 5 years of consulting and/or biopharmaceutical experience

What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate? 

  • Sophisticated user of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in rare disease (preferred) or oncology / allergy (also highly valued)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly synthesize information and communicate it concisely & effectively 
  • Demonstrated track record showing high business impact
  • Consulting experience (life sciences focus or generalist)
  • Prior experience in a business insights and analytics role, or similar 
  • Experience with tableau, SQL, python and other data analytics tools 
  • Experience analyzing large healthcare datasets (e.g., healthcare claims, distribution & sales data)
  • Experience developing patient, volume & revenue forecasts for the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience developing and/or leading market research projects
