Job Summary
The Trane Residential Advanced Manufacturing Engineer focuses on partnering with customers at various manufacturing and distribution sites to provide innovative solutions that create a competitive advantage for our business. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering group develops and implements manufacturing solutions for new product platforms as well as innovative manufacturing solutions for existing products. The AME team also supports business goals including safety, quality, customer satisfaction, productivity, capacity and facility planning. This role requires interaction with site manufacturing personnel, design engineering, suppliers, various levels of management, and other support functions at all company sites.
Responsibilities:
• Develop manufacturing solutions in collaboration with product design and site manufacturing engineering utilizing the 3P/DFM methodologies and Lean principles.
• Develop cost estimates and budget for manufacturing projects including new equipment, equipment modification, facility rearrangement, and other facility and manufacturing-related projects.
• Execute projects to procure and commission new manufacturing equipment and processes. Responsible for all aspects of project from scope definition through commissioning of equipment and site acceptance.
• Identify and evaluate new manufacturing technologies, including robotics/automation, metal joining of copper and aluminum, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, packaging, and any other relevant manufacturing technology.
• Support sustainability goals.
• Support productivity projects at manufacturing sites.
• Travel to manufacturing and supplier sites as required to execute AME responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Fabrication process knowledge including tube cutting and sheet metal forming preferred
• Assembly process experience (conveyance systems, carts, processes)
• Familiarity with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, EPA and other standards applicable to office, manufacturing and distribution sites preferred
• High proficiency or aptitude to learn Word, Excel, Powerpoint, CAD (Creo, Inventor or SolidWorks)
• High mechanical/electrical/process aptitude
• Outstanding problem solving skills
• STRONG DRIVE TO ACHIEVE RESULTS
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
• HVAC or heavy industrial environment preferred
Travel:
• Travel from 5% – 20% average as required to support assigned projects and responsibilities. Travel requirements will vary based on assigned projects
