DescriptionMission Healthcare at Bellevue is hiring a full-time Medical Records Assistant. Below is a brief summary of the position and requirements.
  • $22 - $25 / DOE / Hourly Non-Exempt
A medical records assistant works with the organization, management, and tracking of patient healthcare records. Other duties are ensuring that filing and record-keeping procedures and systems and administrative information in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Summary Of Responsibilities
  • Manage and organize all paperwork concerning caregivers and patients; organize filing system; ensure operation of electronic filing systems.
  • Work with EHR, provide medical records to patients and specialty centers.
  • Scan documents into electronic medical records system and certify HIPAA compliance
  • Implement HIPAA guidelines in keeping patient information secure and confidential.
  • Provide medical information to authorize individuals, law offices and government agencies following HIPPA regulations.
  • Provide coordination and delivery pertaining to release of medical records as allowed by HIPPA regulations.
  • Provide medical information to doctors, insurance providers or government medical programs like Medicare & Medicaid.
  • Performing clerical tasks such as answering phones, faxing documents, filing paperwork, and maintaining medical records.
  • May be required to perform back-up reception duties as needed.
  • May be exposed to situations involving hostile or stressed residents and /or families.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of medical records practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing medical records functions in the post-acute care facility.
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the medical records department.
  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: administrative responsibilities, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be able to accurately file all medical information accurately and timely.
  • Must be able to file appropriate patient information data on designated medical records, wristbands, ID cards, etc., as required.
  • Must be able to manage telephone calls courteously and efficiently.
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients.
  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively in an interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior office experience required.
  • Prior health-care experience preferred.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs floor to waist, lift 20 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 20 lbs, and push/pull 20 lbs.
