ASW/AMFT/LCSW Position Overview:

Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a positive impact on the lives of underserved patients? Seeking an Associate Social Worker or an Associate Marriage Family Therapist to join our West Berkeley Family Practice Health Center team.

In this role, you will work under the general supervision of the Associate Behavioral Health Director to provide quality psychosocial services to our health center patients. As part of our interdisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans that address the unique needs of each patient. This position is represented by SEIU-UHW. Salaries and benefits are set by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and an employee in this position must remain a member in good standing of SEIU-UHW, as defined in the CBA.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center in Northern California with over 45 years of dedicated service to the community, LifeLong serves over 66,000 patients in the East Bay Area's socio-economically underserved regions. We provide medical, dental, behavioral health, and school-based services at more than 15 primary care sites across Oakland, Berkeley, and West Contra Costa County. ASW/AMFT/LCSW Responsibilities:

  • Conducts complete biopsychosocial assessments of patients' needs and creates a plan in collaboration with the patient.
  • Provides short-term individual counseling/therapy to patients with mild to moderate mental health needs using appropriate modalities for patients with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, addiction, domestic violence, behavioral health problems, and psychosocial stressors.
  • Maintains clinical charting to meet the requirement of legal reporting, billing, Quality Improvement, interdisciplinary care, and collaboration.
  • Participates in agency and/or grant-driven directives and outcomes.
  • This position is primarily clinical, with 10% blocked in the template as "follow-up/charting time."
  • Associates will conduct 1:1 counseling and group counseling.
  • This position has 10% allotted time for a project or consults time. Associates can participate in consultations or workgroups within the BH department.
  • Associates with participating in weekly 1:1 supervision and 2-hour group supervision/consultation toward collecting licensure hours.
  • Productivity expectation for this position is .75 patients per clinical hour.

ASW/AMFT/LCSW Qualifications:

  • Qualifying master’s degree
  • Registered with California Board of Behavioral Sciences as ASW
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Experience working with adults or pediatric populations, depending on clinic need.
  • Previous experience in a medical/social service setting providing counseling or therapy services.
  • Previous experience working with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care
  • Experienced in Electronic Health Records, Medical and Medicare documentation preferred.

Street Medicine- which is a field of practice focusing on providing medical and psychosocial care to the homeless or those living in unconventional settings (like on the streets)

Medical settings - focus on physical health, offering treatments and procedures related to bodily health issues, like in hospitals or clinics.

Social service settings- address social and emotional well-being, providing support like counseling and community assistance, often seen in organizations like welfare offices or community centers.
