Dance Instructor (Part-time)

Our Organization: The Cardinal Shehan Center is a non-profit organization located in Bridgeport, CT. For 60 years, the Center has served the recreational, educational, and social needs of moderate and low-income families and young people of lower Fairfield County, particularly inner-city Bridgeport. Our mission is enriching lives through learning. This is accomplished by offering an After School & Saturday Youth Development Program, Summer Day Camp, various basketball leagues, Sign-Up Programs, Physical Education classes to grammar schools, and alternative education programs.

The Position: We are looking for a Dance Instructor for our After School Program. The After School Program role is Monday-Friday from 2-5pm September 12th to June 2nd. The Dance Instructor will be responsible for leading dance classes for group lessons. Their duties are closely related to teaching various dancing techniques. The instructor will give lessons to children by demonstrating dances before the class, in order to effectively teach students new moves. The instructor will prepare weekly lesson plans and creatively instruct students.

Responsibilities:

· Teaching various dance styles, for children.

· Teaching history of dance to students.

· Instructing dance classes in group lessons.

· Monitoring student´s performance.

· Planning activities to keep students engaged.

· Adapting teaching methods to meet the student´s needs.

Requirements:

· Experience in various dance styles

· Experience working with children

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Have dedication and passion for dance.

· Capacity to supervise group work.

· Be able to motivate others.

· Detail-oriented and organized.

· Ability to multitask

· Flexible schedule

Location: The Cardinal Shehan Center is based in Bridgeport, CT.

This position has the opportunity to continue past Summer Camp and into After School Program in the fall.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
