Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, one of South County's largest independent, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation nonprofit senior living communities, seeks compassionate and experienced Nurse Manager to join our growing team.

This position functions as the Nurse Manager for Mary Queen and Mother Center. The Nurse Manager plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for an assigned resident area of MQMC. These duties are accomplished within the Cardinal Ritter Senior Services Mission and Core Values of Love, Compassion, Hope and Integrity.

Available Shifts:

FT Days with some evenings and possible weekend shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Manages assigned area by selecting, directing and developing nursing staff. Ensures that nursing staff members are competent and current in their practice to deliver quality care to each resident. Responsible for evaluating resident care needs; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for residents and families.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies resident care requirements by establishing personal rapport with residents and family members.
  • Protects residents and employees by interpreting and enforcing infection and control policies and protocols; medication administration standards; medication storage procedures and controlled substance regulations.
  • Conduct multiple daily rounds to ensure that all nursing staff are performing and delivering quality care to residents in accordance with Federal, State, and MQMC guidelines.
  • Manages nurses, certified medication technicians (CMTs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ensures nursing staff members follow nursing guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff members follow HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing nursing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as needed; also, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Provides performance evaluations in according to policies and procedures.
  • Provide, schedule, and oversee in-service training for nursing personnel.
  • Assist in the team effort by maintaining a cooperative relationship with other disciplines; by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problem solving methods.
  • Assists the Director of Nursing in coordinating, directing, implementing, and evaluating the functions of the 24-hour Nursing Care Facility in accordance with Federal, State, and MQMC guidelines.
  • Assists Surveyors and Inspection team to include the development and review of Plan of Corrections for Deficiencies noted during Survey Inspections.
  • Implement and oversee ongoing infection prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable disease of residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Oversee the facility's Antibiotic Stewardship program.
  • Oversee resident care activities that may increase risk of infections (i.e., use of urinary catheters, wound care, incontinence care, point of care with blood borne pathogens, and medication administration through injections and IV's.
  • Tracking and trending of infections in real time. Performing root cause analysis to assist with prevention program.
  • Assess and continually monitor wounds (with oversight by MD), create, and implement treatment plans, monitor infections and signs of various infections, and clean wounds.
  • Provide preventative education to staff to reduce prevalence of pressure injuries.
  • Assess skin of new admissions and residents with a wound notification sheet by next working day.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in in-services, seminars, and workshops as required.
  • Communicate with ancillary services and monitor services, deliveries, and responses.
  • Performs all duties in a professional manner, showing consideration and cooperation regarding residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be currently licensed, qualified, and in good standing as LPN or RN in the State of Missouri.
  • Five years' experience in long term care nursing or equivalent to.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to long term care.
  • Complete Infection Control Preventionist training upon hire.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to perform duties with minimal oversight, flexibility, ability to delegate as needed, problem solving skills, and action oriented.

  • Must possess good judgement; be organized, tactful, courteous, and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality with all pertinent resident care information to assure residents rights are protected.
  • Must be willing to advocate resident rights to ensure fair and equitable treatment, self determinations, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, and the right to wage a grievance.
  • Must set an example for staff in regards to promptness, manner, professionalism, dress/appearance, demeanor, safety, cooperation, and customer service.
  • Must be able to perform the physical/mental functions/requirements of the position (see attached).
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer.

RELATIONSHIPS REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires interaction with MQMC staff, residents, physicians, families, and visitors daily.

RESOURCES FOR WHICH ACCOUNTABLE

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and delivery of nursing care and services provided to residents on a designated unit(s). Ensures nursing staff members are providing quality and appropriate resident care that meets or exceeds facility and regulatory standards. May be required to respond to critical issues on a 24/7 basis.

Pre-Employment Screening

The screenings will include criminal background check and other background checks (as needed), drug screen, an employment and education or licensure/certification verification, and Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination.
