Hayes Day School, located in Millbrook NY, currently has an opening for a bilingual Social Worker.

Hayes Day School provides services for children ages 5-21 who have multiple disabilities or autism. We currently have students from thirteen districts across Hudson Valley. We provide a highly structured and supportive educational program for students who have medical, behavioral and/or academic needs.

Pay: $43.27 per hour

What you’ll do as a school social worker:

The bilingual (English/Spanish) school social worker will serve as a liaison between school, home, and community for our specialized school. The bilingual social worker will collaborate with school administration as well as families and residential staff. The bilingual social worker will serve as part of an interdisciplinary team to help students succeed. This is a contracted position scheduled for 20 hours per week. The hours are flexible within the school day to meet the needs of the program. The school operates Monday – Friday (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) based on the school calendar, including a 6-week summer session.

Responsibilities:

· Maintain ongoing communication with families, residential staff, school district personnel, colleagues, and administration.

· In conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator/ BCBA develop and teach intervention strategies to help students achieve goals and enhance skills.

· In conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator/ BCBA help students develop social skills, as well as strategies for conflict resolution and managing feelings.

· Offer support and education for school staff to help them improve their understanding of the cultural, societal, economical, or other factors that can impact students’ education and behavioral tendencies.

· Work with parents and guardians to help support their adjustment, learning, and development.

· Participate in student intakes, conduct assessments and write corresponding reports.

· Actively participate in the school PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) team.

· Handle sensitive situations maintaining dignity for those involved and exercising confidentiality and discretion.

Qualifications:

· Must be a licensed LCSW or LMSW.

· Preferred experience working with children with special needs.

· Valid Driver’s License preferred.
