Cardiac Study Center/ Pulse Heart Institute, Tacoma, WA

The Company

Since its creation, Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has contracted with Pulse Heart Institute for outpatient cardiology and billing services. CSC is a proud partner of Pulse, and has provided outpatient cardiology services in the Puget Sound Region for over 50 years. CSC partnered with MultiCare Health System to create Pulse Heart Institute in 2016 to work toward improving the health of cardiac patients.

Pulse offers a variety of career opportunities throughout our clinic locations. If you’re interested, we may have positions open in our other sub-specialties (Heart Failure, Vascular, Electrophysiology & Device, or Nuclear Imaging)

Environment and Shift details:

This role is full-time, 40 hours/ week, Monday – Friday—closed weekends and holidays.

Location: This position is fully remote; however, only candidates from the following states will be considered: Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.

Referral Coordinator Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in the healthcare industry - preferably in a billing role.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software.
  • Have the ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax and copy machines.

Referral Coordinator Position Summary
In this transformative period at Cardiac Study Center/Pulse Heart Institute, our Referral Coordinators are essential to our commitment to excellence in cardiology. They play a pivotal role in ensuring patients receive timely, pre-approved medical services and facilitate seamless communication between providers and patients. This role supports efficient operations and compassionate patient care within our outpatient cardiology settings.

As a Referral Coordinator, you will be actively involved in verifying insurance eligibility, processing referral requests, and following up to ensure referrals are obtained and appropriately documented in our systems. You can expect to handle communications with various medical offices, manage daily emails, and participate in crucial meetings to streamline processes. This position will offer you a firsthand experience in the critical administrative aspects of healthcare, enhancing your skills in a fast-paced, supportive clinic environment dedicated to patient care and operational efficiency.

  • Verify patient eligibility and ensure all necessary referrals are requested.
  • Proactively following up on pending referrals weekly and contacting healthcare providers as needed to secure these referrals.
  • Handling all aspects of outside referral requests, from receipt through the pre-authorization pool to daily faxing of these requests.
  • Maintaining regular communication by managing emails from schedulers and the call center, and responding to referral-related calls.
  • Participating in monthly bookkeeping meetings and assisting other Business Office staff as needed.
  • Occasionally answering calls for the business office and performing additional duties as directed by management.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

Cardiac Study Center/ Pulse Heart Institute provides a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, and retirement benefits, and paid time off. As various pay transparency laws require, CSC/ PHI shares a competitive compensation range for candidates hired into each position. The starting pay for this position is $21.31 and the pay scale is $21.31 - $38.59 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
