Camp Counselor

Summary: Responsible for on-site supervision of summer camp programs and participants. This includes but is not limited to program planning and supervision of campers, property, and equipment.

Position Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older and able to perform the key responsibilities independently of others
• Must hold or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification before the start of camp
• Must complete staff trainings as assigned by Program Director before the start of camp
• Ability to commit to a specific schedule of 35-37.5 hours per week
• Minimum of one year experience with children ages 6-12 years old

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and Implement recreation activities for campers
• Adapt activities, rules, equipment and/or supplies as needed to ensure quality participation
• Use judgment to effectively make decisions and solve problems
• Work with other camp staff to create appropriate groupings of program, activities, and participants
• Supervise and participate in all planned activities
• Provide appropriate attention to all participants in all situations
• Be alert and responsive to health and safety needs of the participants
• Implement proper disciplinary techniques & provide behavior management as necessary
• Answer questions on behalf of CPKD or refer questions to the Lead Camp Counselor or Program Director.
• Attend all job-related seasonal orientations and trainings as directed by the Program Director
• Gathering, loading, transporting, and setting up equipment as necessary
• Set up of program space and materials daily
• Light cleaning of program space at conclusion of camp each day
• Other duties as assigned by Lead Camp Counselor, Program Director, or Recreation Superintendent

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
• CPR Certification (Preferred)
