Job Title: Apartment Preparation Crew/Summer Student Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Edgewood Commons – Frostburg State University Frostburg, MD

Compensation: $15.00 per hour. Position works up to 30 hours per week. Position not eligible for benefits.

FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt

Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, in collaboration with the Maintenance Technicians and Housekeeper, the Apartment Preparation Crew/Summer Student Maintenance is responsible for the overall turnover of the community for Fall occupancy.

General Responsibilities

  • Cleaning/Maintenance
    1. General cleaning of units including all appliances inside and out
    2. Carpet cleaning and extraction in apartment units and community center
    3. Strip/wax and buff common area floors, prior to student move-in 
    4. Assist in minor damage repair and furniture restoration, as needed 
    5. General cleaning of common areas
    6. Apartment preparation and linen distribution for ‘Bobcat Welcome’ events
    7. Minor maintenance tasks
      • Replacement of drip pans, appliance parts
      • Replacement of light bulbs throughout unit/common areas
      • Replacement of hardware for the appliance, cabinetry, and/or furniture 
      • Replacement/movement of bedroom or unit furniture
    8. Other duties as assigned related to the scope of work 
  • Painting
    1. Paint the interior of all units including common area, bedrooms, bathrooms, doors, kitchen, living, and laundry room
    2. Paint handrails, entry doors, and community center, where needed
    3. Parking lot line repainting
    4. Assist in minor damage repair and furniture restoration, as needed 
    5. Other duties as assigned related to the scope of work

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma. 
  • Current student at Frostburg State University.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and navigate up and downstairs. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication. 
  • Possess strong customer service skills. 
  • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
