Job Overview:
We are currently seeking experienced Technical Writers to support a new hybrid opportunity with Defense Media Activity, Ft. Meade MD. The job location is located at 6700 Taylor Ave, Fort Meade, MD. Travel in and around the primary place of performance may be required throughout the period of performance.
Defense Media Activity (DMA) is a mass media and training & education organization that creates and distributes Department of Defense (DoD) content across a wide variety of platforms to audiences worldwide. DMA is responsible for developing, creating, and effectively engaging target audiences with DoD information. DMA is comprised of 1,500 employees at 45 locations worldwide postured to meet the Department of Defense’s information requirements. Within the scope of its defined mission, roles, responsibilities, DMA provides radio and television broadcast services to DoD personnel located at multiple locations in the United States, various overseas, fixed-base sites, as well as remote areas alongside or near deployed contingency forces.
The scope of work shall include writing, editing, and graphics presentation of technical and management information for both technical and non-technical personnel. Organizing material and completing writing assignments with emphasis placed on data and information order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Collecting and organizing information and preparing it in clear and concise language for technical documents such as functional descriptions, procedure manuals, organizational instructions, policy letters, service manuals, special reports, training materials, installation guides, system specifications, brochures, bulletins, and briefing presentations.
Responsibilities
The Writer/Editor shall document business processes to charter, track, and report the execution and management of enterprise-level projects, as well as component-level initiatives. The Writer/Editor shall acquire or verify knowledge of subject by interviewing program managers and workers engaged in providing the organization’s products or services. The Writer/Editor will revise text and recommends changes in scope, format, and content to ensure conformance with established standards. Performs final quality assurance on all materials. Must be capable of typing technical narrative and data and transcribing audio to written text. Will be responsible for accurate spelling, proper grammar usage, proper format, and proof reading finished documents. The Writer/Editor shall also document management best practices, as well as rules and procedures enabling the effective and efficient management of DMA’s portfolio of projects and initiatives in an objective and consistent manner.

- Proficiency in Visio and editing software
- Experience in proofreading and research
- Proficient in word processing
- Ability to conduct interviews and edit content efficiently

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
