Caprock Academy is seeking a Director of Support Services. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, the Director of Support Services will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values of character, accountability and academics.

Caprock Academy follows the Core Knowledge© curriculum in grades K–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by content-rich instruction, cumulative knowledge, content-specific lessons, and coherent sequencing. The foundation of our academics are rooted in classical education philosophy and pedagogy, following the grammar, logic and rhetoric trivium. The school’s mission is to help all students achieve their highest academic and character potential using proven, accelerated academic programs while providing a safe environment. This mission is achieved through our vision of strengthening the community through the involvement of parents, educators, and community leaders working together to provide an environment that fosters academic excellence and develops strong character in our students. FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Salary Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week

PAY RANGE: Hiring Salary Range $55,000-$65,000 depending on experience and education

REPORTS TO: Head of School

Essential Duties:

The Director of Support Servicesshall report to and is accountable to the Head of School. As a person integral to Caprock Academy’s team, they will maintain the integrity of, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of Caprock Academy’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

  • Supervise and coordinate the MTSS/RTI process with staff;
  • Supervise the Special Education program and plans;
  • Supervise the 504, ELL, and ALP program and plans;
  • Coordinate and supervise the READ Act program and plans in conjunction with the Assessment Coordinator;
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant state, federal, and local laws, and regulations (including Colorado Charter School Institute) about student support services and disseminate that information to appropriate Caprock Academy parties;
  • Submit written reports, upon request, to the CABOD or Head of School;
  • Attend other academy or community meetings as requested by the Head of School;
  • Provide professional development opportunities for the facultythrough an in-service training program;
  • Work with the Assessment Coordinator to assist with student assessments;
  • Work with the special education staff to make sure all reporting and plans are completed in a timely manner;
  • Work with the faculty to make sure data, reports, and meetings for RTI and READ Act are completed in a timely manner;
  • Work with Student Plan Coordinator to ensure that data, reports, and meetings for 504, ELL, and ALP plans are completed in a timely manner;
  • Support and promote a Caprock Academy culture focused on student achievement;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of Charter schools and other independent educational institutions
  • Knowledge of Core Knowledge curriculum
  • Classical Education methodology
  • Experience with Special Education programs and plans
  • Experience with Section 504, ELL, and ALP programs and plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or education-related field i.e., curriculum, assessment, etc.
  • Master’s degree in education or education-related field, desired
  • Licensed or able to obtain licensure as a Special Education Generalist according to Colorado Department of Education standards
  • Experience in management and supervision.
  • Commitment to Classical Education and the Core Knowledge Sequence as well as aspects of Caprock Academy’s Core Values of character, accountability, and academics.
  • Experience working with students of varying ages, skill levels, and circumstances.
  • Thorough familiarity with principles of child, early adolescent, and educational psychology.
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers and team members.
  • Professional and personal integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent conflict resolution experience.
