Capitol Park Early Learning Center is Hiring a Child Care Teacher - Benefits Offered! Near Des Moines, IA

Description:

Capitol Park Early Learning Center provides a safe, nurturing learning environment for children. We value our relationships with families and maintain open lines of communication to ensure the highest level of care for all children. Teachers are responsible for supporting the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of children. This is done through play and age appropriate materials and activities.

Teachers have the opportunity to continue their education in the field of Early Childhood Education through T.E.A.C.H. program scholarships starting with their CDA up to a Bachelor's Degree in ECE with teacher licensure.

Professional development opportunities are offered and paid for throughout the year. Each employee is required to receive at least 25 hours of training per calendar year.

The program partners with United Way of Central Iowa, Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children, Polk County Early Childhood Initiative, and Drake University Early Head Start to offer classroom support and professional development.

Teachers are responsible for:

  • Creating lesson plans to meet the needs of the children in the classroom
  • Creating individual experience plans based on data
  • Submitting quarterly assessment data via Teaching Strategies GOLD or Kaplan LAP-BK.
  • Ensureing the highest health & safety standards at all times.
  • Working cooperatively with classroom consultants and coaches.
  • Working cooperatively with other teachers in the building.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and the highest professionalism standards.
  • Meeting with families officially at parent-teacher conferences twice per year, as well as unofficially weekly.
  • Attending at least 10 staff meetings per year, which are held monthly.
  • Attending professional development conferences in the spring and fall (Fridays') with Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Assistant Director.

We are looking for individuals with experience or a desire to learn more about the field of Early Childhood Education.

We offer a $200 hiring bonus after the first 90 days.

We offer a bonus based on attendance quarterly.

Qualifications:

Required- at least 18 years old (for full time, 16 for part time), high school diploma or GED preferred, completion of all state-required early childhood training classes, one year experience in group child care preferred. Successful applicants are expected to continue formal training to meet program requirements. Applicant must be able to work any shift between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday to meet state ratio requirements.

Preferred- A CDA (Child Development Associate Credential), two years experience in group child care. If applicant does not currently hold a CDA, they will be required to attain their CDA within 18 months of hire with help through the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship and paid center release time.
