Capitol Broadcasting Company is Hiring a Remote WRAL-TV Broadcast Remote Production Engineer

Description

WRAL is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Television Broadcast Engineer to join our dynamic team in one of the top 25 television markets. As a key member of our broadcasting department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our television broadcast facilities, with a focus on facilitating remote productions.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of broadcast technology, a proven track record in troubleshooting and problem-solving, and a passion for delivering high-quality television content.
Responsibilities:
  • Technical Maintenance:
    • Oversee the day-to-day technical maintenance of all broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, audio consoles, graphics systems, and other studio production equipment.
    • Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Remote Productions:
    • Facilitate remote productions by configuring and maintaining equipment for off-site shoots, including cameras, audio systems, and communication devices.
    • Coordinate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of remote feeds into live broadcasts and pre-recorded shows.
  • Signal Processing and Distribution:
    • Manage signal processing equipment and distribution systems to ensure the seamless flow of audio and video throughout the broadcast chain.
    • Implement and maintain signal routing configurations as needed for live and recorded programming.
  • Computer Hardware and Software Expertise:
    • Utilize expertise in computer hardware and software to maintain and optimize broadcast-related systems, including servers, and workstations.
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot broadcast software applications.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support to production staff during live broadcasts and remote shoots.
    • Collaborate with producers, directors, and other team members to address technical challenges and enhance overall production quality.
  • Emerging Technologies:
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in television broadcasting.
    • Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of the broadcast facility, with a focus on supporting remote production workflows.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for technical failures or other critical situations.
    • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and response to urgent technical issues.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all broadcast systems, configurations, and procedures.
    • Create and update technical manuals and training materials as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, signal flow, and remote production workflows.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of broadcast equipment from leading manufacturers.
  • Experience with remote production setups and equipment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced live production environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies.
