LOCATION: Career & Technical Education - Albany Campus

BASIC FUNCTION: To instruct high school students in the proper practices, procedures and skills associated with sterile processing. To instruct students to meet entry level skills allowing them to enter the job market that pays them a living wage; or to continue their education at the post-secondary level. To be involved in developing partnership programs with local businesses, colleges and universities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The classroom instructor will be responsible to develop in each student an awareness and understanding of the basic skills and knowledge associated with the sterile processing field such as how to decontaminate, inspect, package & sterilize equipment and devices (i.e., complex devices to simple, hand-held surgical instruments) used in the health care environment.
2. Evaluate student progress and instruct students in theory as per curriculum. Course will cover infection control practices, decontamination & sterilization guidelines, microbiology, anatomy, medical terminology & surgical procedures, and material management functions.
3. The instructor will be responsible for developing and evaluating student progress, instilling safe work habits and stressing the importance of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability in work environment as well.
4. In addition to classroom, the instructor will be responsible for supervising and evaluating student progress in the work areas.
5. The instructor will work within the facilities to provide the experience portion of the program.

Salary dependent on education, certification and experience as detailed in current contract prorated to amount of service rendered.
