The Quality Control Technician performs inspections, checks, and tests for the quality of the material for our aggregate materials; rock, sand, and gravel. For the first few months, this position will float between our quarry in Black Rock, Jonesboro, and Harrisburg quarries; but ultimately will be based in Black Rock.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides verbal and/or written tests results and reports to the QC Manager and staff.
• Enforce quality control and Company safety policies on all aspects of the work
• Collect samples in a timely manner
• Conducts tests on material
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify physical and volumetric properties
• Communicate daily with QC Technician/Manager and the Roadway Technician
• Calculates pay factors and tonnage totals on daily lab reports
• Responsible for the setup, adjustment, and operation of laboratory/testing equipment.
• Workaround industrial equipment and machinery to obtain materials samples.
• Record test results in a timely manner.
• Report and communicate test results internally and externally
• Clean, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Inspect stockpiles for proper construction; inspect haul units for cleanliness; Maintain test data files; assist in investigating and resolving customer technical problems.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, or the ability to learn, safety rules and equipment including identification of precautions for and emergency response to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards, and asphyxiating, toxic and explosive gases and vapors.
• Demonstrates good workmanship in a neat and timely manner.
• Must be able to work in a variety of positions throughout the day including standing, stooping, bending at the waist, at waist level, shoulder height, and above the head. The job location is in all areas as required in our geographical work area.
• Participate as a team member. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous QC experience in a similar setting is a plus.
• Ability to work independently under strict time guidelines.
• Proven track record of completing jobs while meeting all safety/budget/schedule goals.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule allowing for travel to different facilities
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• The employee will work primarily outdoors, exposed to inclement weather, and in the proximity of chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
