Capital Paving and Construction is seeking an experienced asphalt screed operator to work with our paving crew on projects in and around the Springfield, MO area. Must have bridge and highway experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Control the screed by making proper adjustments to obtain the proper depth and grade and finished cross section of asphalt material via screed extensions.
• Work with other crew members to apply asphalt as instructed and perform tasks of other positions as needed.
• Provide preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly
• Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
• Perform minor repairs on equipment issues. Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties

• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2 years or more of industry related experience is required, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
• Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
• Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair equipment
• Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
• Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50 pounds
• Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Willing to perform manual labor as needed and directed by supervisor
• Must be willing to work at night and travel when required
• Must show up to work on time at the designated meeting spot.
