Salary: This professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Bachelor's, Step 1 - $52,305 for the 23/24 SY

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year

Status: Full Time

Job Goal: To follow Federal and State Regulations and Standards and CAIU policies and procedures in meeting the instructional needs of eligible children / students.

Purpose of the Position: The Capital Area Intermediate is looking for a full-time teacher of the visually impaired to provide direct instruction and support to school personnel, as well as, assessment for children who are eligible for special education within the CAIU geographic region. The caseload will consist of mostly school aged students with a small percentage of Early Intervention students as well. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

1. Valid, active PA Instructional I or II certification in Special Education, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Blind/Visual Impairments, Academic Core Instructional Certifications, or Deaf and Hard of Hearing, depending upon the specific position and posting; must hold PA Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status for assignment.
2. At least a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Core Subject Education, depending upon the specific position and posting.
3. Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) or Safety Care in order to actively participate in restraints depending upon the specific position and posting.
4. Strong verbal and written language skills.
5. Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
6. Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations.
7. Ability to build rapport with a wide variety of stakeholders.
8. Proficient computer skills and knowledge including use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software as may be required.
