Salary: This paraprofessional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule - HS Diploma: $26,695 or High School plus 48 college credits: $28,880 for the 24/25 SY
Additional Pay: This position will receive a $2,950 stipend in addition to the salary
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year
Job Goal: To support the professional staff in meeting the vocational needs of students eligible for special education.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Works with the teacher or transition coordinator as a team member in the educational and social development of students.
2. Assists the teacher, transition coordinator, or other professional as assigned in developing and maintaining a positive environment.
3. Acts as a positive social and emotional model for students and co-workers.
4. Accompanies students into the community for training in independent living skills, community skills, social skills, and life skills.
5. Records data and related behaviors specific to vocational environment.
6. Counsels students in job search skills for the purpose of informing them of employment and career options.
7. Monitors student performance in a variety of work sites according to program guidelines (e.g. visit job sites, obtain employer evaluations, serve as a liaison between employer and student, etc.) for the purpose of identifying areas requiring additional training for developing and maintaining solid work habits.
8. Monitors student job locations for the purpose of ensuring compliance with pertinent child labor laws, insurance guidelines, and safety.
9. Trains representatives of participating organizations for the purpose of complying with program guidelines.
10. When needed, transports students using a school vehicle for the purpose of assisting them in preparing for testing and interviews and in obtaining proper documentation to meet program objectives.
11. Provides direction and support in the management of student behavior in accordance with established workplace disciplinary policies and procedures.
12. Provides input to the teacher regarding relevant information on student academic progress, behavioral change, physical needs, and other areas as appropriate.
13. Follows all established CAIU policies and administrative procedures.
14. Maintains confidentiality by refraining from discussion of student progress and problems as required in the CAIU Policy on Confidentiality of Information (FERPA).
15. Assists in meeting the student's personal care needs as necessary.
16. Assists students to and from vehicles and other parts of the building, and/or off-site experiences, all of which may include lifting.
17. Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as required.
18. Works to create, maintain and build positive working relationships with internal and external (district, community, agency) staff.
19. Follows assigned schedule including attendance, start and end times, and overall punctuality.
20. Adheres to all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, particularly as they relate to the Pennsylvania School Code.
21. Attends in-services, training, and meetings as directed.
22. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor or his/her designee.

Qualifications:
Required
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Certified as a Qualified Paraprofessional, as required under Chapter 14, OR have the ability and willingness to become a Qualified Paraprofessional within the established timelines.
3. Trained in CPR, First Aid and AED and willing and fully able to utilize these procedures OR have the ability and willingness to become CPR, First Aid, AED certified and be willing and fully able to administer these procedures.
4. Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Safety Care, or other restraint management system as required by the assignment.
5. Ability to lift/assist with lifting special needs children. Lifting may be up to 40 lbs without assistance and more with assistance.
6. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
7. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

8. Previous experience working with special needs population.
