About the Role & Team

Capella is looking for an experienced GNSS Systems Engineer / GNSS Software Engineer with experience implementing precision orbit determination (POD) solutions for space systems. The role involves implementation and deployment of a real-time, multi-system (GPS, Galileo, Beidou) precise position algorithm for a low-earth orbit satellite and integrating that algorithm with the Capella ground segments and on-orbit satellites. 

The role will be part of a interdisciplinary technical team consisting of electrical, mechanical, software engineers working on a high-profile project at Capella. 

Role Responsibilities

• Development of a long-term strategy for spacecraft position, velocity, time, and attitude state knowledge in GNSS-denied scenarios.
• Development, implementation, testing, and integration of real-time precise orbit positioning (POD) solution algorithms.
• Working with internal resources, vendors, and solutions providers to integrate in-house and external technologies into a coherent solution.

Qualifications

• BSEE 7 years related experience, or MSEE 5 years related experience
• Expert knowledge in Kalman filters and estimation methods
• Experience working with raw measurements from multiple nav system constellations
• Strong understanding of satellite orbits, spacecraft dynamics and related modeling
• Experience with modeling and simulation for design and testing
• Experience writing, integrating, and testing embedded software (C, C , Python ideally)
• Strong verbal and visual communication skills
• To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable. Compensation

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $169,800 - $224,920. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
