Facility Betsy Johnson Hospital Location Dunn, North Carolina Department Cardiac Rehab Job Family Professional Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary The Exercise Physiologist, as part of the Cardiopulmonary Rehab multidisciplinary team, is primarily responsible for the development of a safe and effective exercise prescription. The Exercise Physiologist ensures safe exercise therapy, by proper patient orientation and supervision, and with ongoing monitoring of patient's clinical status.The Exercise Physiologist is involved in all aspects of the rehabilitation program, and maintains a high standard of practice by following the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Guidelines, and the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Guidelines, in addition to all of Cape Fear Valley's Policies and Procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities One to two years of recent and relevant experience. Strong communication skills, exhibits concern for patient and physician satisfaction. Strong exercise science knowledge base for primary and secondary disease prevention, with the ability to compute MET level and exercise prescriptions in accordance with ACSM standards. Manual dexterity in use of equipment and supplies. Ability to understand stress test results. Is knowledgeable of the psychosocial, physiological, developmental, and spiritual needs of the young adult, middle adult, and older adult in order to provide appropriate care and intervention either personally or through staff. Ability to utilize a computer and hospital applications. BCLS certification.Good hearing, ability to speak clearly, visual acuity, motor coordination and manual dexterity.Good physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilities. Some physical exertion involved when participating in exercise sessions and in any situation requiring emergency treatment of a patient.Work may include light cleaning and preparing facility.
