JOB
DEFINITION: To provide classroom instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions and testing. Teaching faculty are responsible for supporting student success by creating optimum learning, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the affairs of the college. Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare and teach introductory engineering courses designed for transfer. Faculty will also be responsible for informally recruiting and advising students as needed. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives general supervision from the Program Director, Associate in Engineering (AE).May occasionally receive general supervision from full-time instructional staffExercises no right supervision
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENT: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Teaching transfer classes in the Associate in Engineering (AE) Program, to include DFT 170 Engineering Graphics, EGR 150 Intro to Engineering, EGR 212 Logic System Design I, EGR 214 Numerical Methods for Engineers, EGR 220 Engineering Statics, and EGR 225 Engineering Dynamics.Prepare Associate in Engineering (AE) courses to include: developing learner centered lesson plansemploying teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning stylesincorporating, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning and laboratory environmentscreating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student populationpreparing, distributing and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriateparticipating in the development and review of course and program/general education outcomes as appropriatedeveloping, conducting and documenting appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate.Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to studentsPrepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scores Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to: class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelinesOther Important Functions: Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures. Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings. Participate in college-wide activities.
