Location : Castle Hayne - North Campus, NC Job Type: Full Time Faculty Job Number: 24-00052 Division: Economic & Workforce Development Opening Date: 04/18/2024 Closing Date: 4/25/2024 11:59 PM Eastern Position Description DEFINITION: The Director of the Truck Driver Training (TDT) Program is responsible for the planning, developing, and the teaching of TDT classroom and hands on field training. This full-time instructor manager will teach and lead instructors in offering these classes. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general and technical supervision from the Director of Workforce Readiness
Exercises supervision on full and part time TDT instructors
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions:
Assist with TDT program development, improvement, revisions, and evaluations.
Assist with the development of new portions of the TDT program.
Assist with the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
Teach Classroom and field training for TDT students
Assume responsibilities for management of course records, attendance, accident reports, grades, etc.
Evaluates student performance
Assists with new instructor orientation
Ensures equipment and supplies are inventoried, stored, and ordered as needed
Supervises daily activities of all full and part time instructors
Tracks and forecasts yearly budget for the TDT Program
Other Important Functions:
Type or word process a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, agendas, reports, class schedules, forms, certificates, contracts, and memos; prepare copies of documents; distribute information. Perform data entry functions as necessary.
Assess material, supply and equipment needs for the program and submit requisitions for the ordering of supplies and equipment to maintain an inventory.
Assist and participate in the preparation and development of class materials including online.
Assist with identifying opportunities for improving service delivery, guidelines and procedures. Maintain files for compliance with auditor's demands.
Develop and maintain a working and professional relationship with utility employers, students, partnering agencies, college staff and the general public.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Must hold a valid CDL class A North Carolina Driver's License and have a clean driving record.
Must be certified NC CDL examiner.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of:
Truck Driver Training industry
Relevant computer programs and systems
Ability To:
Adhere to safety practices and procedures, such as checking equipment regularly and erecting barriers around work areas.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
Making observations
Reading and writing
Communicating with others
Operating assigned equipment
Handling varied tasks simultaneously
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum Education/Training:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
CDL Class A license
NC CDL Examiner
Minimum Experience:
Have 5 years of experience as a truck driver.
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
Have experience teaching TDT students/employees.
Have experience supervising TDT employees.
