DEFINITION: To coordinate, plan and review the education services of the Adult High School (AHS) Program; to coordinate assigned activities with other college programs, divisions, departments, campuses, and outside agencies; to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Academic and Career Readiness Director.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives general supervision from Academic and Career Readiness DirectorExercises direct and indirect supervision over instructional and clerical staff
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: Develop, plan, implement, and administer the goals and objectives as well as the policies and procedures regarding the AHS program.Provide direction for the development, implementation, and review of existing and new curriculum courses for the program. Evaluate activities and operations of the AHS program to ensure they meet the goals and objectives of the college and the needs of the student population.Maintain all class compliance records and organize, review, and submit class packets within the procedural department compliance timeline.Meet department compliance deadlines for the creation and submission of class sections, corresponding student registrations, faculty contracts, contract changes, and payroll.Oversee orientations for new AHS and High School Equivalency (HSE) students in collaboration with the HSE Coordinator.Oversee advising and placement of new students; address questions from students regarding the AHS and other college programs; provide advising to students and their parents as needed. Create and implement career pathways for current students in the AHS program and work closely with transitions staff to ensure graduates transition to post-secondary education and training.Recommend the selection of staff; train, motivate, and evaluate personnel including faculty; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures. Prepare and maintain contracts for AHS instructors and staff; monitor and submit payroll monthly; organize training workshops as appropriate.Attend classes to assess instructors and verify attendance records and teacher record keeping.Participate in the development and administration of the AHS budget; recommend funds for equipment, materials, and supplies, and staffing needs.Prepare various reports and correspondence related to the assigned area.Oversee the development and distribution of course materials.Gather, organize and disperse a variety of information related to Cape Fear Community College policies and procedures and the instruction process to instructors.Other Important Functions: Oversee and participate in the AHS program’s efforts to recruit and retain students by preparing and presenting material about the AHS program.Coordinate the development, review, and revision of AHS publications, publicity and other community relations activities.Coordinate the instructional advising, certification, and support services of the AHS program.Coordinate the selection, use, and maintenance of equipment and facilities assigned to the AHS program.Provide staff assistance to the Academic and Career Readiness Director; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.Represent the college to the community and outside organizations and on various boards and committees.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

If highest level of education is High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required. Candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States. To claim veterans’ preference, all eligible persons shall submit a DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, to Human Resources during the application process. Human Resources will verify eligibility.
