Cape Cod Healthcare is Hiring an Electronic Medical Records Specialist Near Hyannis, MA
- Opens and sorts incoming mail.
- Collects hospital discharge records and uses hospital discharge list to reconcile receipt of paper charts.
- Prepares the paper medical record for scanning.
- Scans and indexes paper documents into the EMR.
- Electronically analyzes, reanalyzes, and assigns signature deficiencies to the appropriate practitioner in the Chart Completion Module.
- Performs quality reviews of scanned and interfaced images in the EMR and verifies the quality of image, accuracy of patient name, appropriate bar code, account number and document type.
- Resolves issues with scanned and interfaced documents.
- Maintains Turn-Around-Time (TAT) for prepping, scanning, analysis, and quality control of documents.
- Sorts and scans loose sheets into EMR accurately on a daily basis.
- Retrieves, signs out, and delivers hybrid medical records as requested for patient care, correspondence, studies, or audits.
- Performs file maintenance and prepares records for offsite storage.
- Responds to requests for patient information in a timely manner.
- Processes and files Advanced Healthcare Directives in accordance with Federal and/or State Statutes and Hospital/Departmental procedures.
- Performs other job related duties and assignments as requested.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 12 months experience utilizing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system OR successful passage of the Medical Record Department Qualifying test OR 12 months continuous experience within the past 3 years as a Health Record Clerk, Health Record Technician or Health Record Analyst.
- Successful passage of basic Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of the CCH Medical Terminology exam.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate efficiently.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve, organize and prioritize workload to meet turn-around-time benchmarks.
