What you’ll do

The Business Services Advisor is an integral member of the Business Services member experience team that assists the Senior Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer(s) and Business Services Officer(s) in growing, expanding, and developing relationships with qualified business members and commercial borrowers of the Credit Union. The Business Services Advisor is responsible for providing financial solutions to members that complement their existing products with a specific focus on deposit growth and retention through understanding the financial needs of members, recommending appropriate products and solutions, assisting with members requests, and collaborating with other team members as appropriate. The Business Services Advisor serves a liaison between branch retail staff to receive qualified referrals, identify sales opportunities, and make appropriate referrals.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Grow revenue as directed by senior leadership by retaining and expanding existing member relationships with an emphasis on growing core deposits though a consultative sales experience to qualified businesses and commercial borrowers.
• Explains features, benefits, and provides demonstrations of Canvas products. Collaborates with others to find appropriate solutions for members to overcome member objections.
• Coordinates with the member experience team to obtain proper documentation for new accounts, banking services and other needs of the member.
• Develop member relationships through a coordinated member journey and provides ongoing member support for the duration of the membership.
• Provide financial assistance to members and recommends appropriate credit union products and services to those members.
• Identify and successfully cross-sell opportunities and make appropriate referrals.
• Opens new accounts, perform file maintenance and/or file audits on deposit accounts, commercial loans as needed, and treasury management products.
• Manage the branch referral pipeline, qualifies loan, deposit and treasury management inquiries, and provides necessary resources to assist with member’s needs.
• Maintain a high level of service, consistency and professionalism by delivering Canvas Core Values to internal, external and prospective members at every touch.
• Research and resolve internal and external member issues in a timely, consistent, and professional manner.
• Exhibit support for the organization’s goals, values, initiatives, and cost control.
• Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
• Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
• Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate filing system.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, deposit accounts, features, benefits, and overcome objections to customers and business partners.
• Demonstrated sales and financial services experience, negotiation skills, prospecting skills, and accounting and or finance acumen.
• Ability to listen to and understand the financial needs of businesses and commercial borrowers and make appropriate recommendations and presentations of Canvas Products to those members.
• Proven success in building strong customer relationships and new business development.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of Canvas financial products and services.
• Knowledge in Commercial Lending, Business Lending, and Small Business Administration programs is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to maintain confidences.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado drivers’ license and provide proof of insurance.

Education or Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience: One to three years of business banking, sales and credit related experience.

This position has a starting pay range of $26.44-$31.25/hour, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience and internal equity factors. In this position, you will also be eligible for incentive pay.

Working Environment/Physical Activities
High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with moderate local travel. Must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing, as necessary.
