The Canton Public Schools is looking for dynamic educators who value equity, social emotional learning and provide access to learning experiences for all students. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in building and sustaining strong relationships with students and families, and value ongoing collaboration with colleagues.
CHS was awarded an After School and Out of School Time (ASOST) grant funding through the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to provide summer credit recovery programming to students who did not experience success in one or more classes during the 2023-24 school year. CHS is seeking a teacher to offer credit recovery courses in English. Credit recovery courses would not reteach a specific course. Instead the programming would provide more generalized instruction in a given content area, which will be differentiated to meet differing student needs and to accommodate various grade levels. Teachers would have a high degree of autonomy and be expected to create rich and engaging learning experiences that would provide a rigorous student experience that meets DESE competency determination eligibility for the course. In addition to offering academic content, educators would be encouraged to foster relationships among students and provide opportunities for students to connect with both staff and peers.
These positions will be stipends. The work required includes attendance for staff hours of 7:45am -11:45pm during the 16 days of the program, including supervision during transitions. The stipend also includes planning and curriculum development prior to the start of the course. Teachers are expected to complete all necessary planning to develop the course material, assess and monitor student progress, and communicate weekly with parents to share progress with families.
