Canton City School District is Hiring a Lead District Safety Officer Near Canton, OH

Employment Status: Regular/Full-time 228 days

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent

Description: Assist in overseeing all aspects of the Districts’ Safety & Security Operations

Note: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience in law enforcement

Honesty

Confidentiality

Work as a member of a team

Ability to take directions

Good attendance

Certified Ohio Peace Officer

First Aid/CPR - AED certification

Previous experience in school setting preferred

Duties:

Assists in creating and maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff in the Canton City School District

Assist in preventing juvenile delinquency through close contact and counseling

Possess expertise in the safety and security of all district facilities

Have knowledge of all safety drills, safety rules and regulations required by the state

Ability to assist building Principals in all aspects of safety for our staff and our students

Provide training to all new safety and security personnel

Maintain and secure accurate inventory of all safety equipment

Ability to coordinate with all other safety staff and personnel in the district to assure coverage is in all buildings

Maintain and create a positive image of law enforcement through professionalism, integrity and commitment

Works closely with parents, staff and students to provide criminal justice and legal information and education

Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent daily to ensure the safety of the district

Ability to handle difficult situations at all levels throughout the district

Collaborate with other community stakeholders on safety issues or concerns

Serve as a liaison between community and government entities to ensure students and staff obtain necessary or supportive services

Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships

Ability to interact with diverse groups

Be visible and maintain good order and discipline

Conduct structural and procedural security assessments to minimize criminal opportunity and increase safety

Patrol school grounds and interiors of all school buildings, preserving order and protecting property

Assist in verifying residency verifications and truancy cases

Work closely with CCSD Security staff in incidents of potential criminal activity

Assist in medical, safety or other incidents

Perform all other duties as assigned by Assistant Superintendent

Training:

Active Shooter training

Emergency Drill Training - CCSD policies and procedures

Visitor Protocol Training

National Incident Management System Courses: ICS 100,200,700 and 800

Additional Working Conditions:

Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb and stoop
