Candyco is Hiring a Special Projects Technician Near Lindon, UT


Job purpose

The Special Projects Technician will oversee or assist in projects related to new equipment, machine designs line installs including work on machines double check measurements and specs, work with every department to raise awareness and train for proper use. This position is responsible for being in compliance with all employee safely, food safety, facility audits, and GMP requirements at all times.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with production equipment installations, including collaborating with all needed departments
  • Assist with modifications and/or upgrades needed to current machinery, including collaborating with all needed departments
  • Move equipment with box truck to pick up equipment
  • Manage contractor relationships and maintain positive relations
  • Report out to Plant engineer on project tracking, issues, and project completion
  • Utilize project management software to track projects
  • Model the Company's Safety Culture and always strive for 100% Safety compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Engineer
  • Follows all food safety and GMP protocols while servicing equipment
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule: other shifts, weekends, holidays as required

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Production Projects, Maintenance, or hands on related position
  • Experience with welding and fabrication a plus
  • Prior experience in the Food Industry, a plus
  • Must have a good driving record
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Training, preferred (not required)

Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, and respectful of others
  • Organized, detail orientated, and a can-do, hands-on work
  • Proficient computer skills with EXCEL, WORD; CAD a plus
  • Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes
  • Self-motivated, results orientated, and excellent personal skills
  • Strong background in HACCP, Safety, GMPs, and regulatory Food Safety Audits

Working conditions

  • Must be able to work any hours/days, including Holidays and/or weekends

Physical requirements

  • A non-slip resistant work shoe: steel toe when job requires
  • Pre-shift stretch and exercises to be performed
  • Hair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves as needed
  • All required PPEs are worn properly when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection
  • Position requires the ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walking around the facility, lifting and carrying up t0 50-LBS unassisted, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting
  • Also requires the ability to: see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette
