Candidate Experience site is Hiring a Radiology Scheduling Specialist Atrium Health FT Near Charlotte, NC

Job Summary

Performs multi-facility radiology appointment scheduling by phone, fax or electronic queue for radiology outpatient exams. Remains abreast of schedule restrictions and requirements for over 150 exams and 22 facilities. Communicates exam preparation and procedure information to patients or ordering physician offices. Communicates exam protocol to physicians and office staff. Gathers and documents pertinent patient information to ensure compliance with safety standards. Provides assistance to practice team members to ensure appropriate order types and diagnosis codes are provided.

Essential Functions

  • Schedules outpatient procedures for Radiology Services via multiple channels including fax, phone or on-line ordering software tool.
  • Gathers and documents pertinent patient information to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinates various imaging procedures to eliminate exam conflicts with multiple types of studies.
  • Performs medical necessity compliance checks using diagnosis codes and radiology procedures for payor requirements.
  • Communicates exam preparation instructions at the time of scheduling.
  • Communicates with technologists as needed to work STAT orders in and ensures complete and accurate documentation is obtained prior to patient arrival.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time using a telephone headset and a computer. Work in safe manner. Ability to work as part of a team, flexible, and work at a fast pace.

Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required. Medical terminology specific to radiology preferred. 2 years of customer service experience required; previous scheduling experience in a medical environment preferred. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
