Candidate Experience site is Hiring a Federal Consulting Systems Architect Near Reston, VA

Support sales activities as a strategic and high-level technical resource for pre-sales engagements and key opportunities. The CSE (Senior Engineer) is an integral part of an elite team, serving as an architect and advisor to field Systems Engineering and accounts teams. In this role, the CSE provides expert advice on designing, architecting, and implementing solutions tailored to specific customer needs, particularly in large impact opportunities. Collaborating with peer Systems Engineers, account teams, and channel partners, the CSE shapes positive customer engagements through presentations, meetings, demonstrations, and proof of concept (POC) activities. This position offers high visibility to senior management, networking opportunities, and influence over the business and future product direction. 

Responsibilities: 

· Develop and maintain expert-level technical and marketing knowledge in two or more of four specific technology disciplines as they relate to Fortinet's products: 

o Network Security Infrastructure – Switching, Routing, and Availability 

o Network Security Enforcement – Firewall/VPN; Access, Authentication, and Privacy 

o Network Security Management – Centralized Configuration, Administration, Logging, and Reporting 

o Network Security Intelligence – Stateful inspection, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Intrusion Prevention, Content-Filtering, and Application-level Security 

· Possess core competency in Fortinet's product line and technologies relevant to the Federal market. 

· Demonstrate knowledge of Fortinet's key competitors. 

· Act as a subject-matter expert in pre-sales design reviews and provide authoritative technical guidance and leadership to field Systems Engineers. 

· Collaborate with SE peers to lead the design and architecture of secure IP networks, utilizing Fortinet's product line to create superior solutions in competitive environments. 

· Conduct training sessions for System Engineers at various events and mentor SE specialists within virtual teams. 

· Serve as a virtual team leader and advocate representing the Federal Sales Organization from a technical perspective at diverse meetings. 

· Work closely with Product Management and Engineering to identify, qualify, and develop features critical to Fortinet Federal's success. 

· Produce whitepapers, tech notes, and other high-level technical documentation as required. 

· Engage with Fortinet Federal's business and technology partners in your designated technology discipline and share knowledge with field Systems Engineers. 

· Provide timely status reports and maintain effective communication with the CSE and SE Leadership. 

Requirements: 

· Must be able to acquire a US DOD Security Clearance. 

· Minimum 15 years of technical experience in networking/security. 

· Strong team player focused on achieving objectives. 

· Extensive knowledge of IP networks. 

· Extensive knowledge of routing/switching. 

· Holistic understanding of security processes, technologies, and key operational concepts. 

· Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills. 

· Desired proficiency in programming/scripting languages like Python, Bash, and TCL. 

· Desired experience with automation frameworks like Ansible and Terraform. 

· Ability to travel domestically on short notice. 

Education: 

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
