Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Carolinas College of Health Sciences

Carolinas College of Health Sciences Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management will assist with the management of student support services for the Division of Student Affairs including the departments of: Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid; Retention and Student Success; and Student Records and Information Management. The Associate Dean will directly lead the enrollment management aspects of the college including the Admissions and Recruitment and Retention and Student Success departments. The Associate Dean will oversee all student admissions, recruitment, and enrollment aspects of the early college as well as manage all articulation and transfer agreements. 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Master’s degree in student personnel administration, higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or closely related field. 
  • Minimum of (7) seven years in progressive leadership roles in Higher Education.
  • Experience supervising staff in a college environment.
  • Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in higher education and student services.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participates in college functions (e.g., teammate/departmental meetings, new student orientation, graduation) as appropriate. 
  • Engages in active college committee work to include advising student clubs or organizations (waived for PRN teammates and those with fewer than 30 assigned hours per week). 
  • Fosters beneficial relationships and supports the greater community through service activities. 

Manages student wrap-around support services. 

  • Leads the retention and student success efforts for the college. 
  • Collaborates with the Dean in the leadership of the Division of Student Affairs improvement. 
  • In collaboration with the Dean, ensures equipment selection, repair, maintenance, and storage is appropriate to the needs of the Division, students, and staff. 
  • Continually assess student needs and interests, as well as remain abreast of current trends and best practices in the field of student affairs and higher education as it relates to identity development, student behavior, and mental health. 
  • Manages the teams schedule to ensure sufficient on-site presence of student support during all college operating hours. 

Leads early college and partnerships. 

  • Oversees all recruiting, advising, enrollment and transfer into the college of the early college students. 
  • Continually evaluates early college student placement into the college, secondary colleges, or the workforce through partnerships and collaboration with CMS and Atrium Health.
  • Maintains all articulation and transfer agreements to ensure seamless entry of students from any partner institution. 

Leads enrollment management efforts 

  • Oversees the admissions and recruitment efforts to reach goals set in conjunction with the Dean. 
  • Collaborates with the dean of student affairs and enrollment management on tracking student enrollment, melt, and retention. 
  • Develops and maintain a process which measures student enrollment and follows up on students that are not registered. 
  • Creates and maintains a process for monitoring pre-track student programs and placement into track programs with guaranteed admission placement. 
  • Serves as a contributor to college reporting on data including enrollment, graduation, and placement data. 

Directs and maintains college processes and activities. 

  • Oversees the compliance of student enrollment requirements and system maintenance of the document repository system (EXXAT). 
  • Organizes and coordinates the College’s Annual Catalog and Student Handbook update. 
  • Organizes and coordinates new student Orientation and Commencement. 
  • Leads the Division in the absence of the Dean. 
  • Aids in the planning of student engagement activities and oversees student organizations. 
  • Acts as a system administrator to support the Dean in the customer relation management and student information systems. 

Maintains professional competence, including system- and college-assigned requirements. 

  • Possesses and continually develops position-specific knowledge and requirements. 
  • Works with manger to identify and schedule needed orientation and/or training related to the position. 
  • On an ongoing basis, participates in appropriate continuing education, training offerings or other scholarly activities (e.g., certification training, formal education, membership in professional organizations, conference attendance, presentation or publications). 
  • Annually evaluates own job performance and goal attainment. 
  • Effectively and appropriately uses computer technology appropriate to position. 
  • Completes relevant training, as required (e.g., annual continuing education (ACE) modules, Title IX and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training, Mental health first aid training). 
  • Complies with Atrium Health’s clinical requirements (e.g., tuberculosis screening tests, annual influenza vaccination), as required. 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Based on background and relevant degrees, may teach some general education classes.
