Canby SD 86 is Hiring an Instructional Assistant 3 - Trost Elementary Near Canby, OR

This position is at Trost Elementary, 5 hrs/day (9:30 am - 3:00 pm), 182 days/year (pro-rated to start date). Part time insurance benefits will be available.

Position Title: Instructional Assistant III

Classification: Instructional Assistant III; Wage Range: K

Department: District

Work Year: 9 months or as assigned

Supervised by: Building principal or designee

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

Perform a variety of duties with students and assist teachers and specialists in supporting students with an emphasis in reading, writing, math and/or behavior.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under the supervision of the teacher, provide supplemental instruction to small student groups and/or provide one-on-one tutoring of students.
  2. Plan and consult with team of teachers and administrators.
  3. Assist with testing/screening of students as requested.
  4. Maintain accurate records.
  5. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  6. Assist classroom teachers and/or specialists in implementing supplemental education program and behavior management strategies.
  7. Assist students during recess, lunch, PE, music, transitions to various activities, to and from transportation when arriving and leaving school.
  8. Other duties as requested by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 72 college level credits or successful completion of a para-professional highly qualified certification or willingness to complete within 30 days of hire.
  2. Have or obtain first aid card.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Follow district policies and procedures.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and general public.
  3. Ability to consistently model appropriate use of spoken and written English language.
  4. Ability to make some independent judgments within prescribed policies and procedures and perform essential functions with a minimum amount of supervision.
  5. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information at all times.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish

FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK upon offer of employment. ($10-$20 at printing; $59 payroll deduction)

In addition to salary, the district pays the employee's 6% PERS contribution. 

All district employees will be required to provide proof of vaccination, or documentation of a medical or non-medical exception using the Oregon Health Authorities form.
