  • INTRODUCTION
  • The purpose of this position description is to define the requirements, reporting relationships, authority, duties and responsibilities, and measures of performance for the functional position of a Installer at Cana Communications.
  • The primary function of an Installer is to assist Lead Installers and/or Field Supervisors by performing duties of lesser skill. Duties include using, supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work area equipment.
  • The Installer is tasked with helping the Lead Installers and/or Field Supervisors in installing and repairing wiring and equipment.
  • The Installer is also tasked with establishing and maintaining good working relationships between co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
  • The Installer must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screening.
  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Associates degree in Low Voltage or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience
  • 1 to 3 years relevant construction related experience if not earned an Associates degree in Low Voltage or Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferred: 3 to 4 years relevant construction related experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Relevant and current industry and technical knowledge concerning products, materials and equipment.
  • Reading Comprehension: understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Must be able to use hand tools.
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences; ability to convey information clearly and concisely through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand information and ideas; ability to arrange tasks or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules; able to compute/calculate required mathematical equations.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time (up to ten hours);able to lift and carry a twelve- foot ladder and able to perform work from a ladder; able to operate a power jack and fork lift and able to lift up to 70 pounds manually.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work under the elements of a construction site.
  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
  • The Installer is hired by the Installation Division Manager and is directly responsible to the Lead Installer and/or Field Supervisor.
  • AUTHORITY and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Installer is granted sufficient authority by the Installation Division Manager to accomplish all of the duties and responsibilities that are established for this position, to include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers and their staff.
  • Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings, using hand and power tools.
  • Measure, cut and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Assist in maintaining tools and equipment and keeping parts and supplies in order.
  • Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, hand-truck, or heavy motorized truck.
  • Perform skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintaining a team-based work environment and strong relationships with fellow employees.
  • Additional responsibilities of this position require, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Respect the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information.
  • Keep the Field Supervisor abreast of successes progress, potential problems and implements appropriate solutions for those problems.

6.0 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

The Installer will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following occurs:

  • Must obtain NICET level 1 after six months of experience/employment.
  • Technical Ability: Application of job knowledge is used with each transaction; Planning: Systematic and timely problem solutions are implemented; Organization: The employee has an effective arrangement of work; Decision Making: Makes timely decisions; Control: Ability to monitor progress and follow through; Quality of work: High productivity level, neatness and accuracy of work; Cost-Consciousness: Meets budgets, sensitive to profit.
  • Responsibility: Accepts and carries out assignments as assigned; Dependability: Gets job done, persistent, trustworthy; Time Management: Organizes and uses time well; Initiative: Self-starter, seeks additional work; Motivation: High Energy level, enthusiasm; Cooperativeness: Team player, works well with others; Oral Communication: Clearly conveys thoughts; Sensitivity: Understands others, relates with tact; Adaptability: Adjusts to changes in jobs/priorities.
  • Leadership: Orients, guides, motivates, and develops; Personal growth: strives to increase skills/knowledge; Punctuality/Attendance is within accordance with company policies and procedures.
