Camp Young Judaea Midwest is Hiring a Ski Boat Driver for Summer Camp Near Waupaca, WI

Before you apply, this position begins on June 17 and ends on August 12, 2024.

Position Summary:

The Ski Boat Driver will supervise and implement activities including boating safety and driving the boat for tubing. The Boat Driver will maintain the safety of campers and staff and ensure the program is run efficiently through detailed supervision and objective decision making.

Essential Functions:

  • Safely operate motorized watercraft in and around camp property
  • Remain attentive and vigilant when operating boats during tubing and water activities.
  • Safeguard the lives of campers and staff in boating areas
  • Enforce boating rules in courteous but firm manner
  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of boat fleet including cleaning
  • Secure boats by locking them to the dock when not in use
  • Assure that each camper has a pleasant experience
  • Follow all rules and safety regulations as set forth by camp
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff
  • Carry out all other task and objectives as assigned by the Waterfront Director
  • Be alert to program safety factors and potential hazards; report any problems or hazards to the Waterfront Director

  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work on a team and willingness to work outdoors

  • Ability to think in the abstract, solve problems, make decisions, instruct, evaluate, lead others
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
  • Minimum 21 years of age

Certifications Required:

  • Have current American Red Cross life guarding certification
  • Wisconsin Boating Safety Certification card, or reciprocal certification

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; see; talk or hear; taste or smell. S/he must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. S/he may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. S/he must be able to walk and stand in an indoor or outdoor environment for extended periods of time.
