Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our team. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations and ensuring the smooth running of meal preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining skills and experience in the culinary industry, or interested in a more supportive and team-based alternative to stressful restaurant enviroments.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients

- Follow proper food handling and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment

- Help with meal assembly and presentation

- Help prepare meal alternatives for campers and staff with special dietary needs

- Support the kitchen staff in various tasks as needed

- Assist with food program activities as needed.

- Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and notify management when items need to be restocked

- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas

Requirements:

- Basic knowledge of knife skills and culinary techniques

- Familiarity with food safety regulations and procedures

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Previous experience in a restaurant or catering setting is preferred but not required

- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff
