Camp Harmony is Hiring a Summer Camp Counselor Near Flourtown, PA

Camp Harmony is a seven-week comprehensive summer day camp which operates on St. Thomas Episcopal Whitemarsh which is in the heart of Blue Bell, Ambler and Upp Dublin. We open June 24 and finish our last day on August 9. We offer a multitude of programming while our camp continues to grow and we need your help to continue making it successful! As a Counselor, you, our children and families are the most important ingredients for a successful camp. Your major responsibility is to supervise a group of campers and provide a safe, fun, and exciting camp experience. Your duties as a counselor should be taken extremely seriously. Your primary goal will be to follow our daily schedule with programming while working with others to supervise campers at all times and ensure their complete safety. The needs and safety of the campers in all situations must be considered from the time the campers arrive at camp until they are released to their parents or guardians.

Our staff is committed to creating and maintaining open lines of communication through the use of daily Tadpoles, daily email communication from our camp director informing families about the next day’s programming along with a weekly camp flyer that highlights our campers through photos and videos! The camp director along with all staff members utilize a collaborative approach to programming and implementing the best summer camp experience! We possess a deep commitment to the development of our campers and a profound sensitivity to the unique needs of each and every one of them.

  • Shared Leadership of Support and Excellence

Camp Programming:

  • CORE Activities include both Outdoor Stations and Indoor Games, CHOICE period, and Arts and Crafts.
  • Enrichment Activities include Faith Enrichment, Personal Enrichment, Music Enrichment, Academic Enrichment
  • Elective Activities include Crafting, Builders and Blocks, Hand Art, Robotics with Coding, Nutrition and Baking, Remix Fitness, Addicted 2 Dance, and Sportsmanship/Games.
  • Special Activities include Skill Builders, THEME activities, Character Builder, STEM Challenge and a whole camp Tribal Challenge with DJ and Karaoke.
  • Expectations

Camp Mercy is a family operation and we invite you, as a hired Counselor, to be a part of it. We operate our camp as a family and expect everyone to work together, to respect the philosophies and standards of the camp and school, and to meet the following expectations in this document, as well as those presented at any other time and for any other reason.

  • All camp staff will work to ensure children are both safe and aware of rules, and daily scheduled routines while establishing a relationship with each child and know his or her present level of understanding; consider the needs of all the children and treat each child with respect and dignity while reporting any suspicions or evidence of child abuse or neglect to the Camp Director immediately.
  • All camp staff will report to morning meeting promptly with Camp Director and will end their day while all camp staff is supporting campers getting into cars at carline and be dismissed no earlier than their time.
  • All camp staff will eat lunch with their assigned groups while also being provided an assigned 40-minute BREAK period during the day.
  • ALL paid staff will attend, obtain and present ALL necessary clearances and pieces of training prior to the start of camp.

All paid staff over the age of 18 must possess and present current CPR/AED Certification, PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal Background Check, FBI fingerprinting, Mandated Reporter and Safe Environment BEFORE their first day of work.

  • All staff members are expected to attend all staff meetings and work within all assigned duties including AM Car Line, Fire Pit Friends, Hallway Shout outs and PM Carline, and all pre-camp training.
  • All LEAD COUNSELORS are responsible for the creation, planning and submission of the nine-week plan for their CORE activities which include Indoor Games, Outdoor Games, Faith Enrichment, Personal Enrichment, Music Enrichment, ELECTIVE, and SPECIAL in writing including submitting all material request to the Camp Director in writing for approval by the last day in April.
  • All LEAD COUNSELORS are expected to create, plan and implement daily lessons for CORE, ENRICHMENT, ELECTIVE and SPECIALS with age-appropriate activities that fit the children’s needs and interests. ALL lesson plans are due to the Camp Director by Friday afternoon for the upcoming week.
  • CAMP DIRECTOR will provide daily support and direct lesson plan preparation and support while also meeting with LEADS every morning to review the day's plan.
  • All staff members are expected to maintain all classrooms, equipment and supplies/resources in a clean and organized manner. Classrooms must be photographed prior to the camp set up, maintained throughout camp and then returned to their original state to that of before camp. Details regarding the maintenance of the classrooms will be given prior to the start of camp and hung in all classrooms for campers and staff to see.
  • ALL ASSISTANT COUNSELORS are to work toward positive parent/staff relations while keeping the lines of communication open by completing all Tadpoles by noon on a daily basis, document all accidents and inform Camp Director and parent immediately while participating in AM and PM Carline.
  • ALL COUNSELOR AIDS will execute all directives from Camp Director and LEAD COUNSELORS while adhering to and following all expectations.
  • Camp Volunteers will be responsible for the setup and breakdown of hallway and breezeway decorations while also supporting the Camp Director with other duties as assigned.
  • Lead Counselor - 8:00 am to 3:30 pm - 35 hours paid per week at the contract rate.
  • Assistant Counselor - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm - 35 hours paid per week at the contact rate.

Pay: $12.00 - $17.00 per hour
