CTE Teacher - Health Science

Reports to
: Principal


Purpose
: Under general supervision, provides extensive expertise to teach Health Occupations courses as part of the Career and Technical Education Program. Designs and implements an effective and appropriate educational and career training program for assigned students to prepare them for employment; works collaboratively with pupils, parents, support staff, administrators, health organizations, agencies and community groups to enhance the training and employment opportunities for students.


CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Hold or be eligible to hold Teaching License 720 Health Science Education-RN


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE, if not fully licensed in this area

720 Health Science Nursing -Bachelor’s Unrestricted license as a

Education-RN OR Associate's OR 2 years Registered Nurse AND

Diploma (3-yr program) completed a course in

teaching adults, OR

experience teaching adults

OR experience in supervising

nurse aides


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when students are participating in an hands-on activity using tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. in order to communicate these objectives e?ectively to students.
  • Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, CCS policy, NCDPI and administrative regulations.
  • Establish and maintain e?ective working relationships as needed.
  • Work e?ectively with administrators, colleagues, central o?ce, school-based sta?, students, parents and the community.
  • Attend sta? meetings and serve on sta? committees as required.
  • Participate in CTE Advisory Board meetings as requested.
  • Contact graduated CTE Concentrator students as part of CTE Concentrator follow up surveys.
  • Administer and supervise standardized test administrations in accordance with all applicable Code of Ethics, Testing Code of Ethics, NCDPI, and/or national standards and regulations.
  • Encouraging opportunities for leadership, management, technical and citizenship development through membership in a co-curricular student organization, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
