Position: Hourly Lunchroom Aide (10 hours per week)

Duties:

Under the supervision of the administration, the lunch aide oversees the activities of school children in the school cafeteria. S/he watches for unsafe actions by children; promotes the use of good manners and sees that tables are cleared and cleaned after eating by guiding the children or doing it him/herself. S/he guides the children in putting their waste in the different receptacles correctly. S/he may assist in distributing lunch materials; if overseeing special needs children, s/he is required to give special care in helping these individuals eat and get in and out of the cafeteria and may receive limited training in dealing with these children.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalency. Experience working with children in an urban, multi-cultural school setting is preferred; respect for differences in the development of young children; ability to work with children in both small and large groups.

Salary:

In accordance with the Less-than Six-Hour Aide salary schedule.
